Pretty in Pink

Flip Flops

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Over three years ago, I traded flip flops with Jennifer. We both bought a pair in Wimberly, but I liked hers better, and she graciously traded. I loved those flip flops. They were made by "Reef".........my dear flip flops, I decided they were worn over 1200 days. Rain or shine, cold or hot, I wear my flip flops. My wonderful flip flops scummed to the brutal wear and tear that I imposed upon them and they broke.

I went to see my friend Cindy in San Marcus several months ago. We went for a pedicure and believe it or not, the people spoke English! I mentioned needing a new pair of flip flops and there is a store in San Marcos called the "flip flop shop"! How wonderful is that! So, after our pedis, Cindy and I took off to find the shop. I bought two pair of Reef brand flip flops.

One pair has this little metal thing on the sole. I noticed this after we got back to Cindy's house. I first thought I stepped on something, but then lo and behold, it was on both shoes. Then I thought maybe they were "ice grippers", something to help not make them quite so slippery on the ice, you know, during cold weather. Then, well, I realized that most sane people don't wear flip flops during icy weather, and I doubted a company would make that just for me! Anyway, after I got back to Waller, Catherine in her infinite wisdom, informed me that I got the Reef's with the "bottle opener" built on them! Like, all you need at the beach is your shoes and a beer! Who would have known! I don't drink beer, but today, I spend $1.50 on a soft drink in a bottle with a pop top so I could try out my shoes!

I'm so glad you could find a pop top bottle to try!!! I would be a bit sad if you changed your blog title, but it would make sense, but don't feel pressured just because you don't post pics of her much.. she is still pretty perfect.

Oh my gosh, I had no idea a shoe was made with a bottle opener.
You learn something new every day. Looking forward to seeing you again in Sept.
